The leech has two daughters: Give and Give. Three things are never satisfied; four never say, “Enough.”
Proverbs 30:15
It is not a sin and is certainly appropriate to ask for help when one is in need (Gal. 6:2, 10; Matt. 25:31-46).
This proverb is not about that, however.
In this verse, God is talking about someone who constantly wants something from you…and that’s all they want from you.
Not your friendship. No, just whatever else you can give them.
And they never pay you back. They never will give you anything when you are in need. When you require assistance, forget about asking them…because they’ve already forgotten how much you’ve helped them.
That is, until the next time they need help.
These people are the reason for the maxim which says, “Givers have to set limits, because takers rarely do.”
People don’t like someone like that. Don’t be that person.
