Many in the church do not understand or appreciate their elders.  I love my elders deeply, and appreciate them for the burden they bear and the sacrifices they make on behalf of the kingdom of God.  One of them, a good friend named Michael White, is the son of an elder himself.  When I was putting together an issue of the Carolina Messenger about church leadership last year, I was able to get Michael’s father, Garland, to write this excellent article about elders.  All elders and Christians should read this.
